President Saleh highlights Dams and Barriers for Agricultural development

President
Ali Abdullah Saleh paid a visit on Saturday to Al-Amera Dam, Taiz
governorate where he was
welcomed by crowds of people who expressed happiness and joy at the presidents
visit to their area.
Presidents Saleh was briefed on the volume of water
stored and the capacity of the dam and its importance to provide wells and
agricultural lands with water.
President saleh gave directives the bodies concerned
to expand such projects including water barriers, emphasizing the importance of
these projects to enhance agricultural development moving the wheel of development in the country, He
called upon citizens to make use of these projects to preserve water,
cultivating lands. Establishing agricultural cooperation associations through
which they can development and expand the modern agricultural means achieving
profitable economic revenues, accommodating the agricultural employment, improving
the living conditions of farmers and contributing to the economic and social
development of the whole society. President Saleh expressed his relief to the
progress achieved in constructing dams and water barriers reaching to 635 most
of which have been constructed and others are underway.
He asserted the importance of making a wise use of
water. Preserving the water wealth especially in scarce-water areas at the top
of which being Taiz.
President
Saleh was accompanied by Mr.Hussein Al-Basheeri, state Minister, and Ahmed
Abdullah Al-Hajri, Taiz Governor and chairman of local council, and a number of
