President Inspects Khawlan Agricultural Area

 

    Sana’a Sep 1 .. President Ali Abdullah Saleh paid a visit to Khawlan directorate, Sana’a governorate on Saturday.

He was received there by a number of official’s sheikhs; dignitaries social figures local council members and citizens.

President inspected the work process in the directorate, He then called on the dam of Bait al- khardal, The dam is 30 meters high and is large enough for 2 million cubic meters, The dam contributed to feeding the underground water in the area, Citizen expressed their happiness over the visit of president who came to get acquainted with their conditions and touch closely their worries and concerns.

They voiced their gratitude and thanks for the accomplishment of the dam, which largely contributed to refreshment of life in the area expanding the land of agriculture, President gave directives to solve issues of citizen, implementation of number services projects including schools and roads, He confirmed the importance of the local councils in following up the accomplishment of projects needed by the area, The area of Khawlan witnessed increasing   reclamation of lands for agriculture, which led to increase agriculture production for various crops , especially cereals and grapes , President expressed comfort for what he had seen in the area of reclamation of lands referred to , as the base of development .

Yemen has been always famous for agriculture, first of all, he confirmed.

He asserted the interest of the state in agriculture, increase of production, expansion of dams and barriers, which can store raining water. He pointed out to the necessity of combining official and popular efforts for the purpose of constructing more dams and barriers for they are considered to be the best means of making use of raining water.  

He gave instructions to the ministry of agriculture  

And irrigation to offer more services for farmers, especially in field of guidance and fighting agriculture disease.

    President met with a number of farmers, and grape salesmen with whom he exchange cordial talks about the agriculture season, sale movement and marketing issues.

    President was accompanied during his visit by the minister of state, Secretary General of the Presidential office, Abdullah Al-Bashiri and Member of Parliament Mohammed Dowaid as well as a number of officials. (SABA)
